Christmas is coming! Why not get in the festive spirit and visit a Christmas market! Here we have 10 Christmas markets from all across Europe from favourites such as Brussels and Cologne to Winter wonderland in Hyde Park or Edinburgh Christmas market! You are sure to find something the whole family can enjoy!
1. Brussels
Brussels is the perfect family Christmas market! Only a 2 hour train ride from London it has been voted the best Christmas market in Europe several times over! Find over 200 chalet stands, fairground attractions and ice rink and so much more! There's something for everyone!
2. Cologne
If you fancy travelling a little further afield for your Christmas shopping, Cologne is well worth the trip. The city has several markets, the largest of which are in the centre of the city near the magnificent cathedral and centred around an enormous Christmas tree. The Christmas market runs from 26th November-23rd December 2018.
3. Strasbourg
Strasbourg Christmas market is the oldest in France dating back to 1570! So it will come as no surprise that the city considers itself the capital of Christmas! The market spreads across the centre of the town with the main focus around the cathedral square and Place Broglie where you can find lots of stalls selling everything from ornaments to toys and food and of course the obligatory vin chaud for the parents!
4. Winter Wonderland- Hyde Park, London
Something closer to home! Winter Wonderland in London has something for the whole family, from ice rinks to night time shows and Santa Land you are sure to fine something for everyone to enjoy! We recommend booking in advance for any shows or special attractions.
5. Edinburgh
Edinburgh Christmas market runs from 17th November 5th January, the traditional market can be found in the heart of the City and offers a unique shopping experience for every visitor with its fair of crafters, artists, gift shops and gastronomic surprises to help you get into the Christmas spirit!
6. Belfast
The Belfast Christmas market runs from 17th November until 22nd December. Here you can find everything from an outdoor food court to live music and Santa's grotto! Warm up with a mug of hot Glühwein and feast on some of the best food the city has to offer!
7. Oxford
Historic Broad Street is taken over with plenty of stalls to help you find the perfect Christmas gift! Find handmade gifts, colourful decorations and choirs singing to get you in the festive spirit.
8. Budapest
Considered one of Europe's best markets, the Hungarian capitol Christmas market fills Vörösmarty Square with nativity scenes, fir trees and handicrafts. There's plenty of market stalls and majestic architecture for all the family to explore.
