8 Self Catering Recommendations for a UK Family Holiday

As much as we love a hotel stay, sometimes there is nothing nicer than a holiday with all your home comforts. Staying in self catering enables you to have the best of both worlds, with many self catering properties now offering indoor pools, games rooms and even club houses for many its now a preferred option! Here are our 8 self catering recommendations for a UK family holiday. 

 

1. Lower Knapp Farm- Devon

Lower Knapp Farm used to be a working farm, the Victorian buildings have been transformed into 16 beautiful holiday cottages. Set in the countryside of East Devon, its the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing family break in the country. It has an indoor swimming pool, games room and sauna, perfect for all the family. 

 

2. Tigh Mor Trossachs- Stirlingshire, Scotland

Be prepared to be spoiled in 5 star luxury. All of Tigh Mor's properties are beautifully furnished and well equipped, communal on-site facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, a games room, and even your own private fishing pond. With a beautiful view of Loch Achray it's the perfect place to explore with the kids. 

 

3. Henllys- Wales

Henllys is located a mile from Beaumaris on the Welsh island of Anglesey. It was formerly a Franciscan Friary, now converted into comfortable, stylish cottages and apartments. Henllys also has an 18 hole golf course and is set in 150 acres of hillside parkland. With magnificent walks it's a great place to visit if your family like to get out and about and explore.

 

4. Lodge Yard, Askrigg in Yorkshire Dales

Lodge Yard is a development of cottages and apartments close to the centre of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It has a beautiful garden and on site games room to keep the kids busy. 

 

5. Samphire Cottage- Wells-next-the-sea, Norfolk

A cosy holiday cottage in the heart of Wells, it's the perfect getaway if you like to be near the coast. Samphire cottage sleeps four people and has its own off street parking (this is extremely rare in wells! Trust us, many times we have gone to wells for a walk and struggled to get a parking space!) Wells is a great place to visit in the summer, with woodland beach walks from wells to Holkham and an abundance of activities for kids in the harbour there is something to suit all the family. 

 

6. Buckland Court, Cotswolds

Buckland Court is home to 12 beautiful cotswold stone cottages, nestled in a quiet valley and a scenic back drop it's the perfect place for a relaxing family stay.  

 

7. Pear Tree Cottage- Blakeney, North Norfolk 

A cosy yet spacious flint cottage in the heart of Blakeney. Pear Tree Cottage sleeps four and is situated in an ideal place to explore North Norfolk. Blakeney is along the coast road and is the perfect base if you want to explore our Norfolk coastline. 

 

 8. Blore Hall- Peak District

Blore Hall's 13 cottages have been beautifully converted from original outbuildings that surrounded what was once the 16th-Century Blore Manor House. These holiday properties now form part of a large quadrangle, the east-facing cottages having been converted from the fine old barn that faces what would have been the ancient moat (and is now a duck pond). Dotted all around this complex of buildings, the cottages range in size from one bedroom to three bedrooms.
